Mutual Aid: Grassroots Accessibility & Branding Feedback
What does this support offer?
Accessibility is imperative in the digital jungle we live in. Many small organizations struggle to ensure their work stands out not just visually, but also accessibly for all individuals. One of my passions is graphic design, and I want to translate that passion into helping organizations.
Above ground, I am an interdisciplinary code-visual artist and work with various mediums. In fact, this website is custom-coded, from PHP to CSS. I also assist grassroots organizations and am receiving active training in accessibility. If you are an organization comprised of fewer than 30 people, you may request a brief brand review.
What can be reviewed?
You may request feedback on materials such as:
✿ Logos Or Brand Marks
✿ Website Design
✿ Color Accessibility
✿ Icons And Visual Assets
✿ Written Messaging Or Layout
✿ General Presentation Of The Organization Online
Specific brand assets may be sent, or materials can be reviewed directly from a public website.
What does the feedback look like?
For this request, written feedback will be provided. Typically this will be at least one page of notes describing observations and suggestions for improvement.
Unless accessibility reasons require otherwise, feedback will be provided in written form rather than voice recordings.
Who is this for?
This service is intended for:
✿ Small Grassroots Organizations
✿ Early Nonprofit Projects
✿ Small Community Initiatives
✿ Volunteer-Led Groups
Because this service is free, verification may occur to confirm that the organization is actually small and community-based before accepting the request.
What information should be included?
Please include the following when requesting feedback:
✿ Name Of The Organization
✿ What The Organization Does / Its Objective
✿ Public Information That Verifies The Organization [Website Or Public Page]
✿ Specific Feedback Requested
✿ Links To Materials Or Brand Assets
What are the limits and response time?
Because this is a volunteer service, only a limited number of requests per month will be accepted. If a response cannot be provided within about a week, an email will be sent indicating whether the request can still be reviewed.
Possible inclusion in a resource list?
A MadWorldz page is currently being developed that highlights organizations and projects that make the world a little less shitty. If an organization appears to fit that category, a request may be made asking whether inclusion on that page would be acceptable.
